Case study - Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen

MUSEUM MEDIA ECO-SYSTEM

Our partnership with Museum Boijmans van Beuningen over the last 2 years has seen us create exciting projects together.

Digital Archive Setup - With the help of our expertise we have taken close to 13 TB of historical and current footage and arranged into a well-defined repository that will be used to create educational programs.

Custom App DevelopmentWe created four applications to engage museum visitors in fun and creative ways. In some cases the visitors can create unique images, comprised of original classic works, take them home, or share them on the social platforms.

Smart-light A forensic research app installation that allows visitors to look ‘through’ iconic paintings in the collection. Visitors can view a selection of paintings in high resolution X-ray and IR images, revealing surprising and exciting images in the background.

FavouritesWe created an image recognition model based on the 2500+ paintings the museum has and visitors could search these paintings on kiosks using key words. Users could also vote for the favourites, enabling the museum to put those paintings up in the exhibition .

Video Booths - Personal study cabins that allows museum visitors, and industry professionals to browse the film and video collection, and watch any of the films using a high quality screen and headphones.

Cinema app - The museum curators use the Mama platform to program a selection of films, to be shown in the museum Film Hall. High quality cinema grade versions of the films are screened in an ever changing playlist of highlighted works.

Testimonial:

"Over the course of two years, I had a great experience working with Rob and the Mama Media team. They have proved to be a valuable partner in building immersive tools and exploring new possibilities for our digital projects. The participatory installation we have built together for our "Lievelingen" (Favourites) exhibition, was received well by public and was exemplary for how digital technology can be used to find new forms of engagement with our visitors."
